- Married Edward Henry Macardle, who founded the brewery Macardle Moore & Co in 1863 with Andrew Thomas Moore.
- When Edward Henry Macardle died in 1887, Margaret inherited a significant shareholding and effectively took over the Macardle family position in the business.
- She served as a director of the brewery from approximately 1887 until her death in 1921.
- When the company was incorporated as a limited company in 1863, she joined the board in 1883 and signed the Directors Attendance Book from 1895 to 1921.
- The company’s Articles of Association provided that Margaret Macardle could not be removed from the board, giving her a permanent or protected directorship.
- Through this role she helped maintain Macardle family control of the brewery for more than three decades.
- At a time when women rarely held positions in industry, she became one of the earliest long-serving female industrial directors associated with Dundalk’s brewing history.
